what is the best music recording software?

I’m looking for a really good music recording program for my computer…for metal blues and heavier stuff.

Pro Tools.

Also, you should seriously consider joining a community like http://www.audioneeds.com - it’s a great forum filled with sound engineers that are always asking and answering questions and discussing techniques in mixing and recording. I think it’ll help you a lot since you are interested in recording so much.

Without a question, Pro Tools HD is the best recording software on the planet. If you can’t afford HD, then Pro Tools LE works just fine to record and produce broadcast quality music. I use Pro Tools LE and I’m extremely happy with it for recording right in my home studio and it’s even portable enough to take to a gig and record off a mixer live.
