Hi, I was wondering what is one of the best recording software’s to record rock music that i can get for free. We have 2 electric guitars 1 drummer 1 singer and 1 bassist, and i would like to record them seperatley. Could you please tell me what software I should download that i could get for free, thanks.
By the way i do need it for free cause we are not processionals
Try Audacity. I haven’t used it much, so I don’t know all the features, but it’s a great free audio program.
I’m looking for a really good music recording program for my computer…for metal blues and heavier stuff.

Also, you should seriously consider joining a community like http://www.audioneeds.com - it’s a great forum filled with sound engineers that are always asking and answering questions and discussing techniques in mixing and recording. I think it’ll help you a lot since you are interested in recording so much.
I currently have Audacity just because it is free, but I would like something that you could put MIDI drums in. I used Pro Tools 7 or 8 in a class at school and I was very pleased with it, however when I got home, I realized that it cost a little too much for me. So what I’m looking for is, in a way, a cheaper version of Pro Tools (something I can record live guitar and bass on and add MIDI drums). Thank you!
To expand on what h2_sut_lover lover said, not too long ago Pro Tools realeased 3 new ’starter’ versions. There’s Pro Tools Essentials which comes with an interface, Pro Tools Key Studio that comes with a 49 key keyboard, and Pro Tools Vocal Studio that comes with a Mic. If you like Pro Tools I would look into Essentials. It will give you the interface you need to record guitar/bass, as well as allow you to make MIDI within Pro Tools. Its not quite as beefy as LE/M-Powered (Only 16 tracks) but it’ll be good if you’re on a budget and just starting out.

This video shows how I put together a song using my computer and a midi control keyboard. I have a custom built pc that I put together. I am running a dual core AMD chip 3 GB ram and Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. All instruments are stored on my computer drive and streamed by playing a midi keyboard. I use SONAR 8 to record everyting. Later it is mixed and bounced to a digital file, then burned to a music CD! I have been making digital music for over 15 years. I really enjoy this music technology!

YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE IPOD PLUGGED INTO A SPEAKER TO HEAR THE SONGS, or use the iPhone speakers —only 4 iPhones.
–THE IPOD TOUCH SPEAKER WILL NOT PLAY “ANY SOUNDS” besides the beep alarms that it already has.
You will also need an info.plist file from here: BACKUP the old one. Actually, I think there is a back up in the .zip.

An .aif alarm file (iTunes song)
—I will walk you through this in the vidoe——-CUT A SONG FILE SIZE USING any music editing software, Audacity, etc.
(also I noticed the sound of .aif files arent as loud in some cases as if you played the song in the music application in the form of an mp3 or wav etc.)
You will also need:
SSH-basic know how of editing files, and navigating thru system.
This may take some time, but after you get the hang of it, its easy.
