What is a good beginner software I could buy to use with a keyboard to start out with. I play some music, but I want to get more into recording and making music and I don’t know what software would be best to start with on a mac. Please don’t say Garage Band because that’s what I use now and I need an upgrade.

I have garage band but it leaves something to be desired in the way of making legitimate sounding music, ie No vocal compressor and things of that nature.
So what is better, Multitrack DAW or Meteor ?
Well first off any digital recording/editing software for audio is a DAW (digital audio workstation) system. I haven’t used Meteor but Garage Band seems pretty user friendly for beginners. There are hundreds of free plugins on the internet. I believe that Garage Band uses AU and VST plugins. Garage band does have compressors. Garage band also has more editing options and goes a little more in depth.
I’m tired of using softwares like "Magix Music Maker" Cubase,Fruity loops etc.Their soundpools or loops are very larger in size whereas if i use midi pack it would be easy to keep them all in one time.So i’m searching for such type of software.
