I’ve really wanted to get into making dubstep/electronic music so I’ve been looking around
for a good program. I’m looking for something thats not too complicated and will probably have
tutorials on youtube, not something thats so uncommon that i cant find any tutorials online. Also, I have a mac so PC software is out of the picture for now.
I’ve been using dubturbo with mac. Its may favorite music making software so far. ![]()
Very easy to use and my music output is great. Many tutorials can also be found in youtube. . Hope this helps.
I need to make a song for one of my classes and we have to make our own song and find the software to do that. I really need to find a FREE music mixer because I don’t want to have to pay for it. I also want it to have pre-recorded audios (like, drum beats, guitar patterns etc) Kind of like GarageBand but I don’t have a Mac! Can somebody please help me? Does anyone know a program like GarageBand but for Windows? Thanks
Mixcraft is what you need,
but sadly such software is not free.
but you could use the free trial till you
work out how to get it for free.

.
I want to be able to import audio from iTunes, record straight into it, and edit speed and lay tracks over eachother if possible.
We want to record each of our voices seperatley, as well as guitar.
Any cheap free and user-friendly software would be great
Thanks so much

I have a m-audio midi controller and it came with some crappy version of protools that doesnt even work. i was wondering if anyone knew of good software that supports midi controllers for producing beats on MAC? is there any good free software too?
Doesn’t Garageband come with a mac?
A friend of mine has recently started recording music and I was wondering what the best software is to use and some good brands of microphones both that aren’t too expensive but good quality. I know nothing about this so I am hoping that some of you will help me out!! Thanks !
Well depending on your exact needs for recording this answer will vary but here is a general answer. As far as software goes you have a variety of choices (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase ect.). I tend to lean toward Logic Pro (for Mac) because its a fairly simple and smooth program to operate.
Now for microphones, Rode make some really nice condenser microphones (great for vocals). You can probably pick up an NT-1000 for a few hundred dollars and it will make vocals sound quite silky. Now depending on what you’re recording, Shure KSM137s are extremely nice microphones (a bit more expensive) and make a guitar sound extremely nice. Here is an example of an artist using this setup (quite nice and convenient for a singer/songwriter):

Now if you’re looking for something a little less expensive I would recommend the Shure SM57 (around $100, looks cool and has been around since the 60s). This mic is extremely durable and can record most instruments and even vocals pretty decently. The SM58 is specifically for vocals, however they aren’t the best for instrument miking. Anyway keep the music coming! Remember no microphone or software will make or break a hit song, that’s where the actual music comes in! Good luck!
