I know most of you out there are way beyond all this, but it might help someone just starting out recording themselves playing and singing.
This is the older version of Audacity and it’s still available on the net, free, though I believe the newer one is even better. The basics are like an old tape recorder - pause, stop, start, rewind, record - and it’s a great piece of kit.
The only other bit of equipment you need is a microphone with a USB connection to link into your computer. I can recommend the Samson CO1U. It works a treat and it will cost you about £60 with a stand, though Samson do a cheaper (£40) one that I know works well, too.
Meant to say sorry for blurry pic and that it’s best to choose the ‘compatible’ option when saving it in MP3 form. Erm, also, after recording the first track you need to use one earphone plugged into your speakers for recording subsequent tracks so you can hear the already recorded stuff and what you are recording then and there, without the two meeting…
and … use the highlight and cut option (shown here) for chopping start and finish and the silence bit for getting rid of background sound.
Another thought … under ‘Effects’ the ‘Change Tempo’ is pretty handy. If you highlight a whole track (a finished MP3 import or even just your first guitar track, say) you can then slow it down or speed it up without too much distortion. You can sound like a chipmunk if you go to the extreme, though.
Much better and detailed stuff than this is on the net under audacity tips.Hope it helps to start you off, though. Methinks I should have done a lesson plan first!

I use mixing software to mix my music, so I do not consider myself a full fledged DJ at all. Just to get that clarified. I have a lot of love for electronic music i.e. trance, techno, house, hardcore and gabber. So I hope you enjoy this first part to my Megamix, which I put into 10 minute segments. This is an old school hardcore and gabber mix I made. Tunes range from the early through mid to late 90’s! Enjoy! :D

Tracklist:

The Darkraver & DJ Vince - Thunderground (1997)
Dyewitness - Observing The Earth (1992)
DJ Paul And DJ Rob - Lords Of The Hardschool (1997)
Ramirez - El Gallinero (1993)
Rexanthony - For You Marlene (1992)

http://www.facebook.com/dillonpearcemedia if you have any questions or suggestions about my videos.

Please watch in HD with Annotations on.

My Website: http://www.dillonpearce.com

Here is a behind the scenes look at the editing workflow that I use for editing my music videos. I have come up with a way of editing band music videos using multiclip in Final Cut Pro so you can watch and switch between the angles in real time. This makes editing the video more efficient and so that you can see all the angles together to find the best one to use.

Before editing I convert all my footage into ProRes 442 since this is a native file for Final Cut Pro and allows real time playback even with some effects on. Converting it would dramatically help when using multiclip since each of the video files will need to be playing at the same time and this format will help the multiclip run smoothly.

Groundbreaking Music Video:
I used 3×1000 watt photography lights http://tinyurl.com/4wc4awa as well as 1 work floodlight diffused using a 3-in-1 reflector diffuser. The music was played through my Logitech Computer Speakers hooked up to my phone. The camera was hooked up to my Macbook Pro which I used to monitor and control the camera (focus and start/stop recording) using Canon EOS Utility software. The kit 18-55mm lens for my Canon T2i was used.

I Love You I Hate You
The same lighting as groundbreaking was used as well as 2 more work floodlights. We hired out a place in Docklands called ’shed4′ and spent 8 hours filming there. I used my Canon T2i with primarily my 50mm f1.4 lens but for the whole band shots I used the 18-55mm kit lens. For the beach scenes we occasionally used reflectors with the gold tinted side. I used the jag35 X Runner shoulder support with the Monitor X.

If you have any questions about the filming or editing workflow I used please let me know and I will answer them when I read them.

Thanks for watching! Please rate & comment.

http://Bit.ly/BestSoftwareForMusicProduction I want to cover an extremely important topic with you. It is the best software for music production. You are reading my uncensored review of what I really think about this topic. Note that this is a review though, if you are looking for a solution to your concerns you need to click on the link below. See the software now that helped me with a couple situations a friend of mine experienced.

Purchasing a music production software plays a very important part in the process of becoming a music producer, especially if you are a beginner. I am going to start off by saying that before making any purchase or even before thinking which product would be the best option for you to buy, you need to start thinking about your producing style.

Your producing style depends on many things such as experience, specializations and character. In order for you to decide what your style consists of, you have to put in balance all the characteristics mentioned above.

Music production is generally an expensive hobby or business. Each piece of equipment can cost thousands of dollars. The problem is that not many people can afford this kind of money when starting their home studio. Therefore, I made a list of the absolute essential equipment you need in order to begin producing digital music. This list will not provide you with the ability to record external audio sources like vocals, but it will let you produce full-fledged MIDI productions with software synths and effects, which is great for electronic music, games, and some film projects.

(1) A Music Production Software - This is probably the most important piece of equipment to make beats.

(2) An Audio Interface - One of the most important reasons why to get a decent audio interface is their handling of a common problem with computers and music, latency.

(3) A Midi Controller - Most of today midi controllers plug to the computer via USB and are recognized automatically by most music software, requiring almost no technical knowledge to get them going.

(4) Monitors - It might seem like the least important feature for someone getting started, but this depends on how much you enjoy making music.

It is very important when you are creating your music that you do not use low quality audio files during the actually production process because this will drag down the entire composition and leave your music sounding flat and dull, so when you are using your music producing program to create beats, melodies and full complete tracks always make sure you are using industry standard.wav audio files and that they are fully stereo imaged.

My suggestion would be to go here for what I consider the best product on the market today.
