I’m looking to get a recording program for my computer so I can record some demos…I’m not really an expert in this field, so I’m not looking to buy expensive software, nor am I looking for a program that is not user-friendly. I’m looking for a program that has many good features but is simple enough to use, and at a good price. People have recommended Pro Tools to me before, which is way too complex for me to try to figure it out.
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
I’m fine with spending some money on a program, as long as it doesn’t exceed $200..

I just want to choose I program that I will really enjoy using and find great use for in the future.

Pro Tools is professional software - so yes it is very complex. If you want something free check out Audacity or WavePad, but if you want something a little more advanced check out Adobe Audition, Fruity Loops or Sony Acid Music Studio. If you have a MAC - GarageBand is pretty cool software.

Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

Does anyone know what kind of software professionals use like Kylie Minogue’s team?

There are quite a variety of them, ranging from free, to very expensive. If you really want to do the best possible "pro" job yourself, you should use "Cubase". It’s very expensive, & has a very high learning curve to it. But it is the best!
Here are some prices…
http://www.samedaymusic.com/product–STECUBASESX
Cubase 5 $499.99
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item–i-STE-CUBASE5?src=D0809YAHHAMS0000&utm_source=yahoossp&utm_medium=feed
same again $499.99
http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&pageSize=12&beginIndex=0&sType=SimpleSearch&resultCatEntryType=2&ipstate=&iptext=cubase&ip_requestUri=CatalogSearchResultView&ip_categoryId=&ip_mode=0&wcsiptext=&iscached=
This was Sam Ash price, you guessed it $499.99!
No sense going any further, we’ve established that.
But we haven’t covered the price of the interface hardware to use yet…
You will want an interface with phantom power for your condensor mics, ( either through the mix board, or interface device ) the condensor mics themselves, a MIDI interface, then the plugins. ( They can range in price from $100.00 to $500.00 easily, but Cubase comes with a wide assortment of good ones included.)

There are, however, many other good programs that do quite well for far less.
Cakewalk Sonar home studio 7: $139.00
Fl Studios: Fl Studios Signature bundle $299.99
This could go on forever.
Best you go into a music store & talk to some salespeople about what you want to do, & your price range. It’s easy to get into the thousands of dollars if you really want "Pro" equipment. Many studio mics cost $10,000, & so do the preamps! ( If your in a major studio) Then you mhave the USB mixers, which jump through the ceiling also! & that’s not even getting into the all the side hardware used.
If your just beginning, take it slow, it gets expensive fast! I know, I have a studio!

I agree with deadman. I use Audacity, and I think it is excellent. It is well worth the download, but if you are wanting to export MP3 files that you have editied, download the add on which is called lame.dll - you will find this file on google without a doubt.

There are many musical instruments to choose from, depending on budget and personal preference. There are also various ways to learn. The traditional way is to learn your instrument on a one to one basis with a teacher. You could also learn from a book, a CD or DVD, or online. The problem with learning from a book is that you cannot hear how the notes are supposed to sound and compare yours to them. This is especially true if you want to learn to sing. Reading about how to sing and actually hearing the notes are totally different.

Learning online, even though you might not have considered it before, has some great benefits. First of all, online learning provides a complete audio visual experience. You can see how to position your fingers on your instrument and also hear the exact note you should be aiming for. Online learning can be either free or very cheap, unlike a tutor, and you can begin your lesson whenever is convenient for you, rather than make an appointment with a tutor and have to travel to his or her house or studio.

If you are a slow learner, you can repeat the online lesson. A personal tutor normally charges an hourly rate. Some people simply cannot afford to attend lessons or travel back and forth to them, especially after paying the cost of a guitar, piano or other costly instrument. Without online lessons, they might not be able to learn at all.

Learning to play a musical instrument online might not be right for you, however. For one thing, when you have a tutor and make a mistake, your tutor will correct you. The tutor will be watching your fingering and the way you handle your instrument. He or she will also be listening to your music and you will get feedback. The online learning process is one way. If you are making a mistake, nobody is going to tell you and you might learn bad playing habits which are difficult to get rid of later.

If you decide to learn an instrument online, there are a few things you ought to know before starting. First of all, there are literally hundreds of online courses so it will be confusing to find the right one. The prices range from nothing to the price of a private tutor, but pricing is not the only consideration. The quality of the online lessons is as important as the cost, if not more so, so you should check several out before committing yourself.

A good course will include audio, video and perhaps animations too. Some also include email consultation or software to help you with your learning.

A sensible thing to do is to check out forums for your preferred instrument. For example, if you wish to learn the guitar, you can read reviews in guitar forums. Somebody might have learned online and rave about a particular course. It is handy to see what other people thought of the course you are considering and find out whether it sounds suitable for you.

Many courses also offer a money-back guarantee after 30 or 60 days, which is reassuring. This means that the course creators are very confident that you will be able to learn your instrument and they have faith in their online lessons. A course with a guarantee is preferable to one without.

You can choose from beginner or advanced lessons. Did you learn to play your instrument in school many years ago and are looking for a refresher course, or are you totally new to the world of music? This can affect which online course would suit you best.

Some people can learn with a tutor and find it hard to discipline themselves to learn online when there is not another person physically present. It depends on your individual learning style. Other people would feel more comfortable and relaxed learning from the comfort of their own house. It depends what would work for you. Perhaps you tried using a private tutor and it did not work out.

Whatever your musical preferences and style, there should be a good online course for you. Take a look at what is available and you will be surprised how many online lessons actually exist. Learning online means you can learn quickly and easily from the comfort of your own home, for a fraction of the cost you would pay a private tutor.

The Nokia N73 is geared more towards a photographer on the go than someone needing to network and stay in touch. This mobile phone is definitely a smart phone with an exceptional quality of camera included.

The 3.2 MP phone has a Carl Zeiss lens and a 20x zoom, a second lens for self portraits, and photo editing software in case you need to make touchups. The display of the phone acts as the viewfinder in landscape mode, but operation resembled a natural camera thanks to external buttons. The phone can capture video clips as well. A removable cover protects the main lens.

Other features include a mini USB port and 42 MB of internal memory, as well as an expansion slot for Micro SD. This mobile phone is Bluetooth 2.0 ready and you can not only snap shots, but listen to your favorite hits from the music player wirelessly.

These qualities make the N73 a great choice for those who enjoy a good multimedia experience. Also, the high-quality camera will appeal to many people who enjoy taking pictures on the go or traveling extensively and who don’t enjoy carrying too much gear.

One disadvantage of the N73 is that you will need the ear buds included with the phone to act as antennae to pick up FM tuning signals. Other downfalls are the N73 mobile phone not having external options for music controls such as pausing, stopping, or skipping songs. One would think that needing external controls besides volume would be a natural one, but it seems that developers felt being able to play music loudly or quietly was enough for consumers.

There is, however, an equalizer to fine-tune the sound of music. Real Player is integrated on the N73, for those who like that particular software.

You can use the N73 as a modem for your PC, and the phone is also user-friendly for internet browsing and emailing, thanks to Symbian OS 9.1. QuickOffice is loaded for document viewing and covers a wide range of file formats.

The N73 comes in two color combinations: Silver and plum, and white and red. Neither are particularly sleek combinations compared to other phones, but the colors do look nice nonetheless. This mobile phone is referred to as candy bar, measuring 4.3 x 1.9 x 0.7 and weighing 4.1 ounces.

Despite the major drawbacks of cramped keys and the need for external controls for music and entertainment enjoyment, the N73 is a good smart phone with plenty of solid features for multimedia.
