Does anyone know any music making software? By music making software I mean software that lets me manipulate virtual instruments to make music. Price does not matter. Free if u can.

You can check out trakaxPC, which we’ve just recently released - it’s completely free (no trial/catches etc.)
http://www.trakax.com/software/pc/

It’s simple drag and drop technology, so perfect for beginners to experiment and have fun creating music, without a steep learning curve. However, there are advanced features such
as beat-matching etc., so you can find a level to suit your capabilities. You can cut samples, remix tracks, change tempos, record in directly from your mic etc. Check out the site for a full range of reviews.

We also provide libraries of royalty-free loops & beats that will help you in creating new and unique tracks - they’re really cheap, so worth checking out:

Good Luck with the music mixing!

My middle school son is looking for good music editing software. We have Mac, but he says that many people he knows use Acid Music Studio which is made only for Windows. I’d be happy to prepare for Windows system on our Mac if I need to, but I just wonder if it’s necessary.

Is there any good music editing software for Mac at a priced under $150? He wants something better than Garageband, and be able to use tempo, isolate instrumentals and acappellas, and use many more professional sound effects. Thank you.

Audio converter for Mac is able to convert almost all popular audio formats like mp3, mka, wav, m4a, m4v,aac, ac3, aiff, amr, flac, wma, mp2.and convert video to audio, so that you can easily get your intended audio format for your specific purpose.

Input and output
Audio can be imported: mp3, mka, wav, m4a, m4v, aac, ac3, aiff, amr, flac, wma, mp2;
Audio can be exported: aac, ac3, aiff, amr, flac, m4a, mka, mp2, mp3, wav, wma;
Videos audio can be extracted from: mpg, flv, avi, dv, wmv, mp4,3gp, 3g2, mov, vob, asf, rm, rmvb, mkv;

if i go to college and major in music production will they teach me how to use pro tools or fl studio or any other audio production softwares?

As of right now, there are two main types of school. Full four year programs (3 major schools) and then technical programs that are either by months or 2 years or so. If you want to learn music, and i mean music, like ear training, song construction, playing an instrument, as well as all the technical stuff (like programs, mic techniques, etc. ) you would be looking for the 4 year full bachelor programs. The three most recognized four year programs are Berklee in Boston, University of Miami, in Miami FL, and University of Colorado at Denver, in Downtown Denver, CO. There are some others but these are the ones that I beleive to be growing the most. With these schools you will come out with a better recognition of music theory and will be able to relate to the artists you are working with. Fruity Loops isn’t taught in too many schools. There are better programs out there. If you are just looking for the technical knowledge than what you are looking for is a tech school. You have to realize a lot of people come out of these schools and don’t have the passion to look for jobs. They just assume they will be working in a recording studio right after school. The world of Audio has drastically changed in the last 10 years. The big production studios aren’t as common as they were 10 years ago, especially since the home/project studio is more common. If you want to break into the audio world, look for other audio outlets. Movies, ADR, SFX, Foley Work, Live Sound, Audio Post Production, etc. are seeing more and more money because the average music artist doesn’t get a full record deal right away, unless they pay for it themselves. With the way music sharing is going the music business saw a 10% decrease in sales of cd’s last year which is HUGE. Artists are seeing 3 song online deals a little more common, because the label doesnt have to take as big a risk in making your album. So depending on where you go, and what you want to do, I would check out Mix Magazine (mixonline) as they are a great source of information in the audio recording/production realm.
